You've already moved closer to having a well trained dog! In order to be successful, you need to have confidence in the trainer you choose. The first thing you should look for is EDUCATION, it should be verifiable, reflect a broad spectrum of knowledge, and support the training goals you have in mind.
The next necessity is EXPERIENCE. It should be diverse. Does it appear to be the same experience 100 times, or 100 unique experiences. The more varied, the better.
Finally, education and experience should be complimented by membership in the dog training industry's PROFESSIONAL ORGANIZATIONS. This will reflect a commitment to professionalism, transparency, continued education, and access to a large cohort of training resources.
I invite you to visit my bio here. You will find I am dedicated to supporting all three pillars mentioned above and to providing you and your dog with the best possible outcomes.
Strong relationships are based on communication, we create a training language that produces results! Training sessions are completely custom, one at a time, at your pace. No contracts, no obligations, no schedules... Get started today on having the best dog on your block!
Aggressive. Fearful. Reactive. Stubborn. These are the terms used to decribe so many dogs who display unwanted behaviours.
The science of Applied Behaviour Analysis shows us that those words only accurately describe the behaviour, not your actual dog. They are simply reacting to their environment and trying to influence it in the way they know how.
Using the ABC model (antecedent, behaviour, consequence) we will determine why your dog is displaying the behaviours giving you problems. We will then cover immediate management techniques that will reduce the problem and introduce training protocols that will help rearrange those ABC's. Our completely non-judgemental, collaborative, and calm approach will offer noticeable differences in a single day.
We'll cover arousal thresholds in our dogs and why we have trouble getting them to listen, why they go crazy on walks, and why they get rough with us, the kids, or other dogs. I will show you how you might inadvertently add to their arousal levels and how to effectively relax your dog. We'll introduce how to avoid trigger stacking, read your dog's body language, and provide him/her with relief points throughout the day, especially when things are starting to get out of hand.
Session report, training recommendation, and online support included.
Don't know where to begin? Get going with a one-hour private orientation in your home where you and your dog are most comfortable.
You'll become familiar with the science behind how our dogs learn, marker training, conditioning emotional responses, the ABC's of behaviour, and why force free, choice based training is the most effective and humane way to develop our dogs. We will establish the importance of two-way communication and discover the language of the training relationship.
Next, learn how to begin training your dog to offer (on cue) the three most important behaviours every dog needs to know. You will be able start using them every day to control unwanted behaviours, build recall, and begin training other skills GUARANTEED.
