Aggression & Reactivity are MISUNDERSTOOD TERMs…

You’re not alone — and you’re not a bad owner.

Aggression is one of the most misunderstood and isolating challenges in dog training. At K9 Edge, we specialize in helping families understand and manage behaviours like:

  • Growling, lunging, and barking

  • Biting or snapping at people or dogs

  • Resource guarding

  • Fear-based reactivity

  • Handling sensitivity or vet aggression

Whether it’s dog/human aggression, dog/dog aggression, or reactivity, the consequences are real as enrichment activities (walks/playtime/socialization) are lost.

The stress is equally real as lifestyles and relationships are altered around the challenges presented by these behaviours.

These cases are complex. Strategic and consistent training plans are vital to success. Repetitions of the unwanted behaviour must be stopped. Generic or short-term training won’t work.

K9Edge offers a specific, scientific, and supportive program based on industry leading methods that will help you understand your dog and how to achieve your goals.

Safety is always the priority — and so is understanding your dog’s unique needs, history, and environment.

The K9Edge difference

The K9Edge aggression program is based on specific and comprehensive training received from some of North America’s most prolific behaviour and aggression experts. We start with a full-scale assessment of WHY the behaviour happens. Proactive care instead of reactive response will allow for meaningful and lifelong change. Think of the model used by medical specialists. We begin with an assessment of the condition and conduct a consult. Once the consult is complete a prognosis can be offered and a mutual decision must be made on proceeding with treatment. Once that is agreed upon, we proceed together on a proven, science based behaviour modificaiton plan. The areas covered in a consult include:

aggression history

bite history & classification

dog profile

family profile

medical profile

environment profile

social profile

enrichment history

reinforcers

training history

behaviour history

management analysis

Antecedent - behaviour - consequence

  • Safety First: Muzzle training, barriers, and custom plans reduce risk at home and in public.

  • No Judgment: We’ve worked with hundreds of serious behaviour cases. We’re here to help, not criticize.

  • Experience You Can Trust: 30+ years in public safety + certified aggression handling approaches.

What to Expect

Q: Can I skip the consult and book training?

A: No. All aggression clients must complete the consult first — it’s how we keep people and dogs safe.

Q: Will you train my dog for me?

A: This is a handler-focused program — you must be involved in every session. We coach you to create lasting change.

Q: What if my dog has bitten someone or another dog?

A: We’ll review bite history honestly using a bite severity scale and antecedent analysis. We do work with many dogs who have bitten — and all dogs respond to behaviour modification. The complexity of lasting behaviour change relies on the dedicated work of the owner under the professional guidance offered. We are with you all along the way.
