MEADOW - THE K9EDGE DOG
Meadow is a 8 year old English Cream Golden Retriever. When her litter was born, I was visiting the puppies to choose one by temperament and while I had another puppy in mind, Meadow would not take no for an answer.
What followed was an 18 month training journey to qualify meadow as a PTSD Service Dog. The core of our training has been our bond and we became so intuitive to each other she quickly excelled.
Meadow sets the standard when it comes to public access training and her service behaviours are delivered when needed. We have spent every day of her life together and she has travelled across the continent, making friends everywhere we go.
Her enrichment schedule includes daily bonding through physical touch, foraging games, tug-o-war, behaviour chains, a trip to the dog park, and the quiet time an 8 year old dog needs.
Dogs reflect the environment they live in and the personalities of their owner. We have shaped each other into the team we are today.
River - THE K9EDGE future
River was born in 2025 from the same line as Meadow. I was contacted by the breeder after she was returned by a family after only 3 weeks. They reported severe problems with house training and submissiveness. At 11 weeks, River would eliminate in the house without notice and upon contact with any person.
The first weeks of development away form the litter have lasting effects on dogs. With time, patience, and the guidance of Meadow, River is now thriving and brings joy and enthusiasm to every day.
Meadow and River are inseparable and spend their days looking forward to walks, trips to the dog park, and wrestling with each other as Meadow teaches her the ins-and-outs of being a confident dog.
Watching a new canine nervous system develop resilience with careful support, even after a very difficult start has been extremely rewarding and provides proof of concept for so may of the elements I am bringing to families in my work.
One of the most important requirements for me is the things I teach must survive real-life. I'm seeing it every day.
Meadow is the softest soul, so very intuitive.
Chris and Meadow have been training together and inseparable since she was 8 weeks old . Meadow is trained by Chris and is a qualified PTSD Service Dog exceeding both the Alberta Government and Assistance Dogs International (ADI) standard.
She stands out as exemplary among Service Dogs and her calmness and resiliency reflect Chris’s personality.
